The route of the final stage of the Tour de France, scheduled for Sunday, will be adjusted, the tour’s organizers said in a joint statement with the police, “in the spirit of national solidarity with the affected regions and populations.” The route goes from the town of Thoiry, in eastern France, to Paris, far from the wildfires.
Some of the officers who had been assigned to security for the tour would be reassigned to wildfire response efforts, according to the statement.
